Deadlift PB

So lately I feel as though I've just been going through the motions with my training because of nursing one injury after the other (sometimes all at the same time) despite making sure technique is correct and getting adequate rest, blah blah blah...to say that I'm frustrated would be an understatement!

- Shoulder (possible torn rotator cuff, more scans to be done)

- Back (degenerative narrowing in cervical and sacral regions)

- Neck (pinched nerve at C3/4)

- Knee has been sore and tired (still not 100% after the tibial tuberosity transfer)

The screws in my knee

BUT.......Injury is only an excuse if you let it be!

Despite all that, yesterday (Monday 12th August 2013) I achieved a Deadlift PB (1 max rep) of 80kg - YAY for me!

A huge thank you to my trainer Craig Harvey for being patient with me and constantly thinking outside the square.

I am determined to get into the 100kg Deadlift club - keep watching this space because you will surely hear about it 'when' I do.

Never stop trying...

Anything is possible if you work hard at making it happen...

APRIL 15th, 2013

Today I achieved something that even a few seconds before didn't believe I could do but with some awesome coaching and a positive mindset I was able to push my own boundaries.

Pic 1

Pic 1 is of my previous box jump (both feet together), which is a progress in itself. (I started with step flat on the floor).

Pic 2

Pic 2 is my 'new' PB of approx 18" high - I cannot wait to achieve the 20" (as much as it scares me).

MAY 6th, 2013

20" BOX JUMP = GOAL ACHIEVED!!!

Words could not do justice to explain to you how long and how hard I have worked to achieve this goal.

Physical strength is one thing but the mental struggle has been huge....I will fall, I will break the box, I'm too heavy to land on my knee and so on.

I would be lying if I said that those thoughts still didn't run through my head but it's amazing what you can achieve when you stop telling yourself that you can't.

Whilst I did not land it perfectly...I am working on perfecting it and that is all that matters =)

Thank you so much to Craig Harvey of Invictus Fitness & Mixed Martial Arts for believing in me and not letting me give up AND to my training buddy Bec Whitington who helps to inspire me to push me a little further each week ♥

Take Responsibility....

Regardless of how fabulous your trainer is they aren't there beside you 24/7 - Your body is a result of the choices YOU make!

My awesomely amazing Personal Trainer can work my butt off while I'm there and tell me over and over again about the importance of eating clean BUT unless I move my own butt on the other days when he's not kicking it for me AND actually listen and take his advise about sticking to clean eating, then the results I want are not going to happen and the only person to blame is ME - not my trainer!

Every Sunday night I plan for the week ahead, Work/Study, Food, Exercise, Family and Free time. Everything is scheduled like an appointment.

In order to make sure that I can keep my meal appointments I shop ahead to ensure that I have all the ingredients on hand and ready for easy preparation. If possible I make my meals in advance - this also helps when those curve balls are thrown.

What about you....Are you prepared to fail by not taking the time to prepare?

You cannot out train bad food choices.

Don't start a DIET just start making better choices one step at a time!

Gratitude

Just because everything is not 'perfect' it does not mean that we cannot be 'grateful' for everything that we have.

Let go of the 'all or nothing' mentality and just simply be GRATEFUL!

I am GRATEFUL that....

I woke up
I get to do a job/s that I love
I have two handsome happy and healthy boys
I have a family who loves me
I have wonderful friends
I get to share my thoughts on forums such as this.....

What about you....What are you grateful for?
