It feels like its been ages since I've shared a garden update with you all and I must say that it is starting to really take shape and we can almost see the finish line...which I know you never really reach in the garden as little weeds shoot up and the change of the season also brings new tasks, but our overhaul is getting there. So much so in fact that we have ordered a skip for the weekend. Omgoodness I cannot wait to get rid of the pile of green and general waste which has taken over the side of our driveway.
Gardening has been providing me with a release and surrender from everything that has been playing on my mind so rain or shine I head out with my jacket that Mum gave me and my little caddy that the boys made me ;)
Anyway here are some before and after pics of OUR GARDEN!
Front path is looking much more inviting now....once my flower seeds come up it will be nice and colourful too.
Unfortunately one of the branches had snapped off and was only just holding on so it needed to be cut off. Garden bed looking much better now. I've also put in some flower seeds along the edges...can't wait to see some colour. There is a succulent garden in the middle near the rocks and also a Jade planted in the corner.
View looking down to the driveway. I was sick of just a patch of dirty leaves so split and replanted some Agi's and Spider plants. I am thinking of putting in either a Hebe or some daisies but not sure.
My poor garden chrsitmas tree was getting a little squished at the front so these two found a new home...
Under the mulberry tree...
Under the mulberry tree. Birds of paradise still needs more trimming. There are colourful flower seeds in the front section too.
Grass wasn't doing so well and since I haven't been using my tyre for training I decided to give it a new purpose. I have planted soon colourful flower seeds in here too. We will also be putting some new lawn seed down.
Both Birds of Paradise plants still need a really good haircut but they are a little more tamed now...
Near the front verandah...look you can see the pond AND there is path along the wall :)
I've since cut back the tree up the back so now we can walk all the way through here. Saves the gas man walking over my garden beds.
Obviously we haven't finished the pond are but at least we can see it now LOL.
We have decided to empty it out, clean it and then get some fish and some plants. In the 6 years I have been living here we have never used it for its intended purpose and just let the area get overgrown.
I was watching a garden show today that had a pond with edible water plants...thinking I might give it a go.
This area is still a work in progress...
Our poor magnolia tree was so dry and lifeless so we cut her back AND literally the next day we had leaves and a bud - Amazing what some TLC achieves.
We are going to put in some wattle along the fence to act as a bit of a hedge from next door and of course some Agis along the front of the pond. I also have some flower seeds to sprinkle that will hopefully bloom and fill the space with colour while everything is trying to kick off.
Looking so much nicer from the front and no ones eyes will be poked out by rough branches ;)
Found some rocks to finish off the border in the pool area. I'm thinking of popping something with a bit of colour in here too but not sure what hmmmm!!!
Along the back fence.
The back corner is at least tidy....I planted some Aloe Vera in the rocks near the compost area.
We tried to clean the area completely but there were rocks, pebbles, broken bits of terracotta, just stuff...so we put a little top soil down planted some agis and I put an old tyre along the fence with some geranium cuttings around it. Should hopefully take off and fill the space nicely. The plum tree is above it.
The front of the shed is not completely done but looking better...
Mark is going to build some shelving down the back of the shed and also contemplating extending the bike shed to the front of the shed so he has more sheltered work space....we certainly have enough material to do it. I can't believe all this stuff was down the back...omgoodness!
Mark made himself a propagation garden bed.
And he cleaned the side of the shed...
AND made a start to our wood pile!
I sat and sorted out all of our Agi's, Spider Plants and other things to replant somewhere or for Mark to take to the nursery.
It's not just work work work, we all have some fun in the garden too. Mark made us a garland with one of our climbing roses....so pretty - who needs a snapchat app when we can make our own LOL!
The weather is looking up for the weekend SO we will no doubt have another update soon especially seeing that the skip is arriving on Friday. LOL, I can't believe I am so excited about it especially considering the fact that I'm going to be working to put the shit into it.
Oooh I will also take some pics of the seeds & bulbs that have started shooting up...it's been the highlight of my day heading out to have a wander in the garden with Mark and the kids.
And that's it for now...until next time keep smiling xo
