Scripture Writing Plan - Day 6

Day 6 - Amos 4:13

For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts, is his name.

My Interpretation

In order to understand this a little more, I read the full Chapter 4 of Amos and it seems to me as if God was pissed off that people (woman especially) were using their wealth to enrich themselves rather than showing compassion and helping the needy, God thought they were a disgrace to womanhood.

Later in this chapter God was also warning all those who were rebelling against him that he had the power to bring judgment upon them and that he could curse them just as easily as bless them if they continued worshiping a false god.

So verse 13 was God basically reminding them that HE was the ruler of the universe. Perhaps he was a little tired of people not acknowledging him so he wanted to reestablish the authority.

God created the mountains and the wind. He lets humans know what he is thinking. He brings the darkness at dawn and reaches the highest places on earth. He is Lord God, all powerful.
